After the long journey, we reach our destination which is container hotel located in George Town where we will staying for 2 days. Inside the shared room, each student are given their own pod equipped with bed. Its a unique experience for me because I never had stayed i this kind of hotel before. After we are done putting our things inside our room, we gather outside and when together to our first site exploration.

SEKEPING VICTORIA

Our first ever site exploration is Sekeping Victoria. I was really like the place because interior of the building gives a raw element style which one might find it basic and simple yet really interesting. It shows that you don't need to use expensive material and furniture to make space look attractive. After that, we are free to explore the town our self the rest of the day till 11am where we are advised not go out during this time

CHINESE OPERA

During my exploration, I saw a Chinese opera happening near our container hotel. I went there and watch their performance despite for not able to understand what they were speaking since they are speaking in Cantonese which I don't speak my self. Even though I don't understand a thing, I still end up staying watching their performance because its not something that you can watch everyday. I noticed the  entire time during the performance, I was one of the only few who are watching while the rest I see is busy with their phones which makes me sad and angry because the performers are really giving their best and yet people just ignore it. This is why I consider this as one of the dying culture in Malaysia and the reason why I chose this culture for project 2.

TOUR AROUND GEORGE TOWN

In the morning of the second day, all of us went to St. George Church where we gather for a tour around George Town. There are 2 tour guide with 20 student for each tour guide. During the tour, we learned a lot about the history of the place like when is this building is constructed or what happen to the foreign people who lived in Penang in the past. You can also the see different mixture of architecture style like western style and eastern style throughout the tour.

I really had an enjoyable time and also learned a lot from this field trip. It helps to appreciate a culture that is dying with the current 'generation since most of us are uninterested. Most of the dying culture like the Chinese opera or cane furniture won't even be known by future generation. It is imperative that we find a way to make it appeal more to people nowadays so that it doesn't die out in history.

On the 19 September 2019, me and other BIA student went to for field trip to Penang George Town for our second project which we are required to find and study about the dying culture that is happening in the 21st Century with modern technology and entertainment are biggest contributor to the diminishing a culture. When I heard that we are going for a field trip to Penang, I was excited since I rarely leaved KL to visit other state apart from my hometown in Sabah. We depart from Taylors University at 11am using a bus. The journey took more than 4 hours since we stopped along the way for lunch.
