ASSIGNMENT 2: FORGOTTEN CULTURE
In this project, students are required to identified a culture that is being risk of being forgotten in today's modern world. During our trip to Penang, I was able to identified a couple of forgotten culture like Peking Opera which originate from China. The opera used to be the main sort of entertainment for Chinese people in the past but by the mid 20th Century, the start of decline in popularity has begun with the introduction of more entertaining things have emerged. Today, the culture is in risk of being wipe out into history since only a few are interested in it.
I decided that I want to do about face painting of their mask to make it easier for me to focus on since it is the main highlight apart from the clothing. I gather the information about the paintings like each colors have their different meaning to show the personality the character carries during the play. Below is the presentation board to explain more the details of the face painting and model to represent of the face painting.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, I learnt that as the current generation in this age, we need to preserve our culture so that it is not forgotten because if a culture is gone, future generation won't even know about it except being mentioned in their history book. Other than that, I really learned a lot about the Peking Opera that I never knew about like paintings in their mask has its meaning and also they way they performed also shows their character. Overall, I really glad in doing this project and with this knowledge that I have gained, I will surely past it to the future generation about this culture.
